What is the first step?

If you would like to contact me about counselling please telephone me or email me. If you would like to we can arrange an initial free of charge meeting which would provide you with the opportunity to explore in complete confidence the issues that are troubling you. It will also give us the opportunity to see whether we can work on them together. There is no obligation to carry on with the counselling after this meeting.


Is counselling confidential?

Confidentiality is of tremendous importance in counselling. There are however exceptional circumstances where it may be necessary to seek a client's agreement to break confidentiality. I adhere to the BACP's code of ethics regarding confidentiality.


Will you give me advice?

No. The counselling process is one of empowerment for the client. My job is to assist you in the process of clarifying and understanding your issues and making your own decisions that are best for you.


How often would I need to come?

Normally I meet with clients once a week. This is flexible and is dependent on the clients needs. Each session lasts for 50 minutes for an individual and 75 minutes for a couple.


How long will I need to come for?

The frequency of the sessions is agreed at the first session. The length of time we meet for depends on the needs of the client. Counselling can be for just a few sessions or can be longer term lasting a few years. We will review progress regularly as we proceed giving us both plenty of opportunity to explore how we are getting on.


How much does it cost?

There is no charge for the initial session. The fees for further sessions are £45 for individuals and £65 for couples.These fees are open to negotiation in certain circumstances.
